Day 1 on the Black Pearl
Dive 1-Morning
Location: Banana Reef, North Male’ Atoll
Did the orientation dive here. Banana reef was quite pleasant with a medium current. A lot of variety of fish was there. The cleaning stations were bustling with activity. Varieties of fish were getting cleaned by the Cleaner Wrasses.
Dive 2-Noon
Location: Lankan Manta Point, North Male’ Atoll
We had a slight incoming current. Several mantas were seen at the cleaning station and swimming out in the open. Counted about 8. Apart from the Manta Rays we saw a white tip shark and a very sociable hawksbill turtle.
Diver 3-Afternoon
Location: Finger Point, North Male’ Atoll
The location is called Finger Point because a part of the reef protrudes out into the sea which is sort of like a “finger of the reef”. Although Grey Reef Sharks frequent at this place due to the wrong current (it was out going instead of incoming) we didn’t see any. Despite that it was a lovely dive with White Tip Sharks, Eagle Rays, and schools of Snappers, Emperors and Sweetlips.
